Do You Need Special Equipment to Cook Plant Based Food?

Have you been thinking about incorporating more vegetables into your diet, but not sure where to start? You might be surprised to learn that cooking plant-based meals at home is actually very easy, and you don't need any special cooking equipment to get started.

Plant based is a term we use for cooking without any meat, fish, eggs or dairy.

Here are some top tips to help you get started:-

1.  Start with familiar recipes

You don't need to completely overhaul your cooking habits to eat more plant based meals. Start by looking for plant-based versions of recipes that you already enjoy. For example, you could try making a meatless version of your favourite pasta dish, or a tofu stir-fry in place of a chicken stir-fry.

2.  Experiment with different plant-based proteins

There are many delicious plant-based sources of protein, including beans, lentils, tofu, tempeh, nuts, and seeds. Try incorporating a variety of these into your meals to keep things interesting.

3.  Use basic kitchen equipment

You don't need any fancy gadgets or appliances to cook plant-based meals at home. A good set of pots and pans, a cutting board, and a few basic utensils are all you really need to get started.

4.  Don't be afraid to try new foods

A plant-based diet can be a great opportunity to try new foods that you might not have tasted before. For example, you might want to experiment with grains like quinoa or millet, or leafy greens like kale, rainbow chard or bok choi.

5.  Get creative with plant-based substitutions

There are many plant-based alternatives to animal products that can be used in your favourite recipes. For example, you can use mashed bananas or avocado in place of eggs in baking recipes, or use plant-based milks like almond milk or oat milk in place of cow's milk.

6.  Keep it simple

Plant-based meals don't have to be complicated to be delicious. In fact, some of the best plant-based dishes are made with just a few simple ingredients. So don't be afraid to keep it simple and let the flavours of the plants themselves shine.

Eating more plant-based meals at home is a simple and delicious way to improve your health and reduce your environmental impact. With a little experimentation and creativity, you can easily incorporate more plant-based meals into your diet using just basic kitchen equipment. So why not give it a try?
